Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist combined to win the first four races of the season. Penske took over the doubleheader weekend in Iowa. RLL won in Indy with Penske-Ganassi again at Gateway. But, the third Ganassi driver is quietly having himself a season.
Rosenqvist may have won in Road America but his fellow second year teammate driver from the same country is actually having an all around better year.
Rosenqvist has six finishes of 12th or worse this year. Marcus Ericsson has six top 10s. He’s 13th in the standings and quietly ready to have another strong effort in Mid-Ohio.
“It’s great news that the race is happening and that it’s a doubleheader,” Ericsson said. “I’m very excited about that. I think we have been having a strong year so far, but maybe not having as good of results as we’ve wanted.
“I’m looking forward to going to Mid-Ohio and scoring some good results there. I think we can do it. We’ve been fast pretty much everywhere, so I’m feeling confident and ready to go there for a good weekend. Also, for me, I was taken out in Turn 1 of the race, so I feel like I have some unfinished business because of that. It’s a really fun, challenging track, so it’s going to be a great weekend.”
Ericsson, has always said just give him a shot at these tracks a second time. He’s proved himself right. He only had three top 10s last year but six already in 2020.
