Felix Rosenqvist had a great start to the season back in June. While he crashed out while running since second to Scott Dixon with 10 laps-to-go, it showed his promise and that a win was coming soon.
It did three starts later in Road America. The second year driver chased down Pato O’Ward for his first career victory.
Unfortunately, those are his highlights in 2020. Rosenqvist, was only 15th in Indy, 18th in Road America 1 and 14th and 15th respectively in Iowa. He had an uneventful 12th place run in the Indy 500. That’s six finishes of 12th or worse in nine races this year.
That has him 10th in the standings.
But, maybe Mid-Ohio is just what he needs. He finished second in a photo finish to Dixon last year and won the last natural road course race last month. He’s coming off of his best two oval results of his career as well with dual top 10s in Gateway last month.
“It’s good to have Mid-Ohio confirmed finally,” said the second year driver. “I think it’s a race that everyone wanted to make sure it happens.
“It’s especially exciting that we have a doubleheader. It’s a track that’s historically been really good for Chip Ganassi Racing. I can look back at last year with our P1 and P2 finish for me and Scott. There’s definitely something to be shown there on my side. I think I felt like I could fight for the win last year. With two attempts this weekend, it’s going to be a good weekend, for sure. I’m looking forward to it.”
I look for a big weekend out of him this week.
