Alexander Rossi is frustrated. He had high hopes for a championship in 2020. Instead, this has been the most disappointing season of his young career thus far. He sits an eye opening 18th in points right now and has led 17 laps over the last 15 months, all coming in one race.
Rossi had mechanical failures in the first two races of the year. He was only 19th in Road America 1. At that point, he was 22nd in the standings.
Then, the finishes started to come back.
Rossi, was third in Road America 2 and sixth and eight respectively in the two Iowa races last month. He went from 22nd to 10th in the points standings in six days.
Then came Indy where a penalty then a crash cost him moving even further up. In Gateway, a bad luck start to where he was hit before the green flag even came out forced him to a 22nd place result on Saturday. He was 14th on Sunday.
Now, can he start to climb again?
Next is Mid-Ohio this Saturday and Sunday. He led 66 laps from the pole in his 2018 win there. He was fifth last year.
