Joe Gibbs Racing announced today that Denny Hamlin had successful arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder.
The surgery was completed by Dr. Patrick Connor at Charlotte Surgery Center. He is expected to fully recover in time for the start of the 2020 NASCAR season.
Hamlin talked about his shoulder earlier this month during his media availability at Texas Motor Speedway.
“I really don’t know how it happened to be honest with you, but it’s something that has been nagging really for years,” Hamlin said. “I’ve had shoulder issues. It just got to the point where it was really bad and got it scanned and figured out what it was. It hadn’t really affected me in the car at all. That part has really been fine.”
Hamlin, is coming off of a career season in 2019. The Virginia native reached the Championship 4 for just the second time of his career. He also amassed six wins including the season opener Daytona 500 to go along with career highs in top five finishes (19) and top 10’s (24).
