The winningest crew chief over the past two seasons in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, Scott Zipadelli, and the core group of the No. 16 Toyota Tundra team will return with Austin Hill in 2020. Zipadelli and Hill led the No. 16 team to four race wins, tied for the most among NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series regulars, and a fifth-place finish in series points this season.
“I’m really proud of what Shige Hattori has allowed us to build at HRE over the years and the people we’ve assembled,” Zipadelli said. “We have some big goals for 2020 and Austin showed what he’s capable of this past season. We have another level we want to get to next season, and the people on this race team are absolutely capable of getting there to run for another championship.”
The 2019 campaign marked the second-consecutive season that Zipadelli and company have been tied for the season lead in race wins with a full-time series regular. Since the beginning of 2018, the No. 16 team has amassed a total of 10 victories (21.7%) and will look to elevate their performance further in Hill’s second season next year.
“This is such an awesome group of guys, so it’s a relief we can keep this team intact for next year,” Hill said. “We started off well winning at Daytona, obviously, but we definitely got better the longer the season went. We have a good direction of things we want to do in the off season and areas to improve, and this group is going to be ready when we show up for Speedweeks in February.”
