Prime Sports NASCAR – Fantasy team recap from Richmond

Greg got another much needed win on Sunday with Alex Bowman’s surprising victory at Richmond. He led the final 11 laps en route to his first win in over a year. Unfortunately, that’s the only driver Greg had in the top five of the final finishing order as he had three drivers in the top 10 overall.

That’s because Eric’s drivers once again looked the part. Prior to the final restart, both Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin had led 179 of the previous 182 laps and were restarting 1-2. Eric has both drivers. Bowman, snuck in and beat them both to the win. Hamlin had to settle for a runner-up while Logano was third. Factor in Aric Almirola’s second solid run of the season in sixth and William Byron in seventh and you get four of his seven drivers coming away in the top seven.

That also forced a bad day out of CJ’s drivers. He had Christopher Bell (4th) and Martin Truex Jr. (5th) in the top five but those guys and Austin Dillon (10th) were his only drivers in the top 12.

Now, it’s onto Talladega where anything can happen. Kyle Larson, Truex and Kevin Harvick aren’t the best there with Truex having one top five since 2007, Harvick with one top five in his last 18 and Larson without a single top five of his career there. Christopher Bell isn’t necessarily a strong superspeedway racer (29th, 39th at Talladega in 2020) and Chase Briscoe is a rookie. So, CJ’s drivers may have another off week.

Greg may benefit. He has Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski who are really good speedway racers to go along with solid sleepers in Chris Buescher, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Matt DiBenedetto.

Eric has favorites Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott with a solid sleeper group of Bubba Wallace, Aric Almirola, William Byron and Tyler Reddick.

Eric gained 30 points on CJ and now trails by just 30 points heading to Talladega. Greg is 490 points down himself.
