Eric gambled on Joey Logano for Bristol and it paid off. Logano, led the entire way during the final stage en route to the win in Monday’s rain delayed Bristol dirt race.
Eric’s strategy for this race was to go with one of the favorites between Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell, then a few other top dirt drivers and sprinkle in some long shot. I mean, when else are you going to get both Logano (30-1) and Keselowski (33-1)?
Some drivers said prior to Bristol that this race could be more like a slick track and race closer to Richmond and Martinsville rather than a race on dirt. Logano and Keselowski are great at those two tracks, so why not sprinkle some money in their direction?
It paid off.
Eric threw $10 Logano’s way and won $290 back. That puts him just $58 down from breaking even after the first seven races. In fact, other than Ryan Blaney winning in Atlanta, he’s been on a hot streak lately after our experts all missed out on the early wave of long shot winners in Daytona and Homestead.
Greg and CJ missed out on Larson and fall -$360 and -$461 on the season respectively.
Greg went with Larson, but by doing so, he had to avoid Bell, Briscoe and Dillon as a result. By choosing his drivers, Larson was his break even bet. He did get Stenhouse Jr., who finished runner-up, to go along with the Atlanta winner in Blaney. Greg took Kyle Busch at 18-1 and figured why not for Keselowski too at 33-1. He went further down the list for the rest of his drivers in taking Matt DiBenedetto, Erik Jones, Newman, Chris Buescher and Daniel Suarez. Newman, is a break even bet too for him, but Busch (+$80), DiBenedetto (+$100), Jones (+$100), Buescher (+$140) and Suarez (+$100) would have gotten him a three figure payout if they could have won.
CJ went with the heavy favorites. He got Larson and with how he did his picks, he only took four drivers in total which allowed for a $16 profit if Larson won. He was able to snag Bell and Dillon to get a $15 or $8 win respectively if either had won. He also took Blaney for his only longshot at 16-1 to win $12.
