A week after Eric had 5 of his 8 drivers finish in the top 12 of the Daytona 500, he just put 6 of his 8 in the top 10 in Sunday’s Pala Casino 400 in Fontana. While he’s not had a winning driver yet, these early season finishes are pushing him to a dominating lead out of the gates for the 2023 standings.
CJ went 1-2 on Sunday with Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott, but those were his only drivers in the top five. He only had 1 more in the top 10 (Austin Dillon, 9th). Half (4) of his 8 drivers finished 16th or worse with two 33rd or worse. Last week, he had 6-15-19-25-33-34-36-38. This week he went 1-2-9-11-16-25-33-36.
Greg had 1 driver in the top 10 on Sunday (Ross Chastain, 3rd) with 7 of his 8 being 15th or worse (3-15-19-20-26-28-29-34). Last week, Greg had 8-9-18-23-26-35-37-39.
Eric is the one who’s off to a hot start. He had an astounding 2-3-5-7-12-17-20-22 in Daytona and 4-5-6-7-8-10-30-32 in Fontana which gives him a 430 point lead over CJ and 515 point advantage over Greg heading to Vegas.
