Unfortunately, the funding that Landon Cassill had for the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series season was a casualty of the coin saga. That has cost the Iowa native his ride with Kaulig Racing. As a result, the seat in the No. 10 Chevrolet for the season opener at Daytona was open.
Kaulig didn’t take long to find his replacement.
Current Kaulig NASCAR Cup Series driver Justin Haley will take over the reigns at Daytona next month. The 23-year-old is a superspeedway ace and a perfect driver to fill in for the week.
Haley has 5 combined Cup Series (1 win) and Xfinity Series (4 wins) victories. All 5 have come at either Daytona or Talladega with 3 of the 5 coming at the World Center of Racing. His lone Cup win was the rain shortened Coke Zero Sugar 400 in July of 2019. His Daytona NXS wins came in the 2020 and 2021 summer classics.
The Indiana native ran three full-time seasons in NASCAR’s version of AAA, each coming with Kaulig. He was 12th, 3rd and 6th respectively in the final standings in each. Last year, he moved up to a full-time seat in the Cup Series with Kaulig but did run one race with them in NXS competition which happened to occur in the summer Daytona race.
