Whelen Engineering, Inc., a global leader in the emergency warning industry, will continue their partnership with Richard Childress Racing in 2023 for fulltime sponsorship on RCR’s No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Sheldon Creed will return to the organization as the driver of the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet.

Whelen Engineering is known throughout the world for its powerful, reliable warning lights and scene illumination solutions, sirens, and control systems for first responders and emergency services as well as aviation and mass notification industries, all of which are manufactured in America. Whelen has used their partnership with RCR and Creed to raise awareness for a variety of programs important to the core values of the company, such as the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, while also highlighting key segments of the company, such as Whelen Aerospace Technologies.

Creed, the 2020 NASCAR Truck Series Champion and 2018 ARCA Racing Series Champion, has earned four top-five and 12 top-10 finishes through 32 NASCAR Xfinity Series races so far this season. He’s led 155 laps, and narrowly missed making the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs in his rookie year of series competition.

Creed is just the latest of a slew of announcements lately with JR Motorsports also confirming their plans a few weeks ago. Sam Mayer (No. 1 Chevrolet), Justin Allgaier (No. 7 Chevrolet) and Josh Berry (No. 8 Chevrolet) each return while Brandon Jones (No. 9 Chevrolet) shifts from Joe Gibbs Racing to replace the departing Noah Gragson who advances up to the Cup Series with Petty GMS Racing.
Kaulig Racing will have Landon Cassill (No. 10 Chevrolet) and 2021 series champion Daniel Hemric (No. 11 Chevrolet) back while in a similar situation to JRM, Chandler Smith (No. 16 Chevrolet) moves up to replace AJ Allmendinger as Allmendinger is moving up to the Cup seat with the organization.
Parker Kligerman was just announced as the full-time driver in the No. 48 Chevrolet for Big Machine Racing on Saturday. On Tuesday, it was announced that Garrett Smithley will drive the No. 78 Chevrolet for BJ McLeod Motorsports.
Joe Gibbs Racing will have their announcements after the season concludes this weekend. It’s expected Ty Gibbs will move up to replace Kyle Busch on the Cup side leaving both full-time rides open for next season. John Hunter Nemechek is needing a spot to land and by all accounts, this makes the most logical sense here.
