As a result of concussion like symptoms, Alex Bowman will miss Sundays NASCAR Cup Series race at the Talladega Superspeedway. Due to that, Noah Gragson will fill his place in the No. 48 Chevrolet.
Ironically enough, Gragson has been saying that he was initially making this his final Cup start of the year. He was wanting to focus on his fight for the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship and didn’t want to take any risks by a potential injury in these Cup cars.
Gragson knows they’re dangerous and will see it first hand by replacing an injured driver on Sunday. What happens if he is injured himself? It eliminates his Xfinity Series championship chances.
So he says that he drives these Cup races at 80% in fears of a crash.
Gragson has won the last 4 NXS races and has a potential to make that 5 straight this weekend. He won the spring race here this past April.
However, he was originally slated to drive for Beard Motorsports on Sunday. Now he’s not. His JR Motorsports teammate of Justin Allgaier will replace him in the No. 62 Chevrolet.
Allgaier has made 80 career Cup Series starts with the last coming a year ago. Saturday will be his 400th Xfinity Series start though as he’s won 19 times and led 4,696 laps there.
