My playoff picks for the 2022 postseason

The regular season is done. 26 races down, 10 races left. Who ends up marching their ways from the Round of 16 to the Championship 4? Here’s who I think here.

1st Round

Darlington – Denny Hamlin (winner)

Kansas – Kyle Larson (winner)

Bristol – Kevin Harvick (winner)

Eliminated:

  • William Byron – without a top 10 finish in his last 10 and 1 in the last 18, I don’t see him advancing, especially with finishes of 13th and 16th in the 1st two tracks of this round earlier this year. Same for his teammate Alex Bowman who also has just 1 top 10 in his last 12 and without a top 5 in his last 18 and was 29th and 9th in the 2 races too. Austin Cindric’s run ends as he’s also not had great stats entering the playoffs not has he been great on 2 of these 3 tracks. Chase Briscoe is my other pick to bow out in the first round. 0 top 10s in his last 12 are it for me.

Advancing:

  • Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Christopher Bell, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Kevin Harvick, Larson, Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, Daniel Suarez, Tyler Reddick, Austin Dillon

2nd Round

Texas – Denny Hamlin (winner)

Talladega – Ryan Blaney (winner)

Charlotte (ROVAL) – Tyler Reddick (winner)

Eliminated:

  • Austin Dillon as he’s not a great road racer and didn’t win Talladega. Daniel Suarez as he’s been good on road courses but not good enough on superspeedway’s or intermediates. I also have Christopher Bell too being done as he’s not been good on superspeedway’s and has just 1 top 5 on road courses. Even with a solid day in Texas, it’s not enough. Kevin Harvick barley nips Kyle Busch for the final spot.

Advancing:

Hamlin, Blaney, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Reddick, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain

3rd Round

Las Vegas – Kyle Larson (winner)

Homestead – Kevin Harvick (winner)

Martinsville – Joey Logano (winner)

Eliminated: Hamlin, Blaney, Chastain, Reddick

Advancing to Championship 4:

Harvick, Logano, Larson, Chase Elliott (playoff points get him by)

Winner: Logano
