Clements’ win shakes up Xfinity Series playoff grid

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla — Jeremy Clements entered Friday night’s rain delayed Wawa 250 at the Daytona International Speedway 17th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series points standings. His win at the World Center of Racing moves him up to 8th in the playoff grid as he now secures a spot into the 2022 postseason.

This will mark the 3rd time of his career that he’ll fight for a championship as the 37-year old South Carolina native says that he has nothing to lose now.

By taking a spot, it bumps Ryan Sieg out who entered the night 39 points ahead of Sheldon Creed for the 12th and final position. He’s not 12 points out of Landon Cassill.

Creed falls to 55 points arrears while Anthony Alfredo (-91) and Brandon Brown (-98) are the only other drivers within 100 points of the cutline.

For Cassil, he and defending series champion, Daniel Hemric, hold down the final 2 spots in. Both Kaulig Racing teammates would feel a massive disappointment if they fail to make the playoffs.

Cassill is just 12 points to the good with Hemric being +33.

Sam Mayer is +86 in 10th while Riley Herbst holds the keys to the top wildcard spot in 9th at +107.

There’s 3 races left in the regular season.
