INDIANAPOLIS — If you love racing, there’s going to be a lot of it here in Indiana over the rest of the month. Indiana Sprint Week begins on July 22 at Gas City I-69 Speedway. On July 23, the stars of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series will head to Kokomo. Then, it’s to Lawrenceburg (July 24), Circle City Raceway (July 25), Terre Haute (July 26), Putnamville (July 27), Bloomington (July 29) and Haubstadt to close it all out on July 30.
However, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park is also playing host to 3 nights of action too.
On Friday (July 29) you get the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series as well as ARCA Menards Series racing on the .686-mile oval just minutes west of IMS. They’ll both practice, qualify and race on Friday. Also on Friday is INDYCAR practice and quals on the 2.439-mile IMS road course as well as the Xfinity Series practice and qualifying.
On Saturday (July 30) you get both the INDYCAR and Xfinity Series races at IMS as well as the Cup Series practice and qualifying on the road course too.
Also on Saturday at IRP you get the ARCA/CRA Super Series as well as the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks who will race in the Fireball Circle City Twin 100’s at the Oval.
Sunday (July 31) is the Verizon 200 Cup race at IMS. The NASCAR stars will stay around though because on Monday is the new date for the Open-Wheel Opening Day. This was originally slated to open IRP up back on March 26. However cooler temperatures and snow flurries forced it to move back to Monday (Aug. 1).
We’ll see pavement midgets and the 500 Sprint Car Tour race and in those races, some NASCAR stars will take part in them. Both Alex Bowman and Kyle Larson will run a Midget while Larson will also race a Sprint Car too. This race is completely free too due to Bald Spot Sports buying out the event and giving away the tickets for not charge.
2 days later (Aug. 3 & 4) is the BC39 on the IMS dirt track tucked away inside of Turn 3.
