The final 30 minute session for the NTT INDYCAR Series prior to Sunday’s Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America (12:30 p.m. ET, NBC, INDYCAR Radio Network) wrapped up a busy day of action from the picturesque Road America circuit. Last years winner Alex Palou topped the speed chart among the 27 drivers with a top lap of 1:46.2291-seconds in his No. 10 Dallara-Honda around the 4.048-mile Wisconsin road course.
Palou qualified in 3rd just hours prior to this session and was also 5th and 3rd respectively in the other 2 practice sessions on the weekend too.
He bested Josef Newgarden by .305-seconds in the final practice as Newgarden went P2 in his No. 2 Dallara-Chevrolet with a lap of 1:46.5337-seconds. The Tennessee native was also 2nd in qualifying and will share the front row with Alexander Rossi on Sunday. Newgarden, was 5th in practice on Saturday morning and 8th on Friday afternoon as well.
Simon Pagenaud (1:46.5752-seconds), David Malukas (1:46.7581-seconds) and Felix Rosenqvist (1:47.0441-seconds) rounded out the top five.
Rossi was 7th.
We had 1 incident in the session for Tatiana Calderon who stopped on course in Turn 5 at 4:42 p.m. local time.
