Prime Sports NASCAR – fantasy team update leaving Kansas

Eric picked up his 5th win of the season on Sunday via Kurt Busch’s triumph in the AdventHealth 400 at the Kansas Speedway. In fact, Eric an thank this win to that March 29 transition to where he traded Kevin Harvick and Tyler Reddick for Busch and Kyle Larson. It took a while to pay off but he finally cashed in.

Larson, finished 2nd for where this trade went 1-2. By comparison, Harvick finished 15th and Reddick 30th.

Eric also had 4th placed finisher Denny Hamlin and 7th place Ross Chastain for 4 of his 7 drivers picking up top 7’s. This was his highest output of the season as he’s starting to heat up coming into some marquee events like the All-Star race (Sunday) and the Coca-Cola 600 (May 29).

CJ had 3rd place Kyle Busch, and 6th place Martin Truex Jr. Greg’s best driver was 5th (Christopher Bell) and 9th (Alex Bowman) in 10th. He went – 5th (Bell), 9th (Bowman), 12th (Ryan Blaney), 15th (Harvick), 24th (Chase Briscoe), 30th (Reddick) and 35th (Justin Haley).

CJ had 3rd (Busch), 6th (Truex Jr.), 11th (Austin Cindric), 13th (Austin Dillon), 16th (William Byron), 29th (Chase Elliott) and 32nd (Erik Jones).

Eric went 1st (Busch), 2nd (Larson), 4th (Hamlin), 7th (Chastain), 17th (Joey Logano), 26th (Aric Almirola) and 33rd (Daniel Suarez).

All-Star Race preview

There’s not much from the All-Star race to change over from one year to the next. That’s because venues change over the years now (3rd venue in the last 4 years) as well as how the event is run too. This year’s race will look nothing like last. Just like last year’s looked nothing like 2020 and 2020’s look nothing like 2019’s.

So, how do you handicap this weekend’s annual event then?

I’d look no farther to how the drivers have fared at Texas overall. Kyle Larson won last year’s All-Star race as well as the playoff event that Fall too. That says if you’re good at Texas you’re good in the All-Star event or vice versa.

Also, the last 2 All-Star race winners (Chase Elliott, Larson) have gone on to win the season championship later that season too. The last 6 All-Star winners are all champions in the sport, so it’s really not a fluke to find out who wins the prestigious event when it’s all said and done.

So, who’s good this year?

Hendrick Motorsports has 5 wins in 13 races and has won the last 2 All-Star events which is why I’d start there.

However, this is a new car that has never ran at Texas before, so it opens the door up to others. At the point of the All-Star race a year ago, Larson was the hottest driver in the sport. We don’t have anyone on that level yet which is why the door is truly more open than it was in 2021.
