Top NXS bets for today’s race in Phoenix (4:30 p.m. ET, FS1, MRN)

Trevor Bayne earned his first NASCAR Xfinity Series pole in over 2,000 days on Saturday morning. Now, can he hold off 37 other challengers to win Saturday’s United Rentals 200 (4:30 p.m. ET, FS1, MRN)?

Bayne, hasn’t won a race since 2013 at Iowa. That’s 289 races ago in series competition but only 56 starts for the Tennessee native.

Joe Gibbs Racing has won 4 of the last 7 Xfinity Series races from the 1-mile Arizona oval and with his No. 18 Toyota on the pole and being +700, those are solid odds to make some money.

So is from his teammate Ty Gibbs. He starts third and was runner-up in this race a year ago. He’s coming off of a win last week in Vegas too. Gibbs, comes in at +440.

The top favorites are:

  1. Bayne (+700)
  2. Gibbs (+440)
  3. Gragson (+390) – 3 straight top 2’s on the season and runner-up in 2020 here.

Top Sleepers:

  1. Josh Berry (+750) – starts 7th and was 4th in each of the last 2 weeks.
  2. Brandon Jones (+1300) – Won this race in 2020 and has 3 top 7’s in his last 4 at Phoenix. He rolls off fifth.
  3. Sheldon Creed (+2300) – 10th, 12th, 1st and 4th respectively in 4 Truck Series starts at Phoenix to go along with being 10th in his lone NXS start. Creed, has 2 top 7’s in 3 starts this season and also starts 9th.

Top Fades:

  1. Justin Allgaier (+440) – He starts 24th and has just 2 top fives in his last 7 starts at Phoenix. He was 8th and 9th last year.
  2. AJ Allmendinger (+850) – He starts 17th and has 1 top 10 in 4 career Xfinity Series starts at Phoenix. He had just 2 top 10’s in 19 career Phoenix tries in Cup too.
