Yellow Submarine is back this May for Scott McLaughlin

INDIANAPOLIS – Rick Mears started it in sporting the Yellow Submarine paint scheme for Team Penske back in the 80s. In fact, Mears drove those colors for two (1984, 1988) of his four Indianapolis 500 triumphs. Helio Castroneves then brought back those yellow Pennzoil colors to the No. 3 Chevrolet again in 2014. After a year off in 2015 from it, they came back in 2016.

Scott McLaughlin took his turn in it last year when Castroneves’ Penske tenure ended at the end of the 2020 season. As a rookie, he had a solid Month of May where he started 17th and finished 20th.

Now, McLaughlin confirmed that the color are going to be back on his car again next May for the seventh straight year.

This will be McLaughlin’s sophomore season in the series as he won Rookie of the Year Honors for 2021.
