NASCAR Pre-Race Media: Top 5 sleepers, top 5 longshots for Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 (7 p.m. ET, NBC, MRN)

It’s the final race of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series regular season. Daytona is a place to where we could see another new winner and potentially steal a playoff berth as a result of a victory Saturday night. With Daytona being widely unpredictable, how about we break this down to top five safe sleepers with five more longer shots.

Safe Picks

William Byron (+1200)

He won a Duel in February 2020. He finished runner-up in this race in 2019 and won in 2020.

Austin Dillon (+1500)

He won the 2018 Daytona 500. He won a Duel in February and was third in the Daytona 500 as well.

Aric Almirola (+2000)

He’s better at Talladega but his first ever Cup win came in this very race in 2014. He should have won the 2018 Daytona 500, was fourth in the 2017 Daytona 500 and seventh in this race in 2019.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (+2200)

He’s always good on superspeedway’s and needs a win. Both of his wins came on these types of tracks.

Ryan Newman (+3000)

Newman, has five top 10 finishes in his last seven Daytona starts.

Longer Shots

Michael McDowell (+3500)

What a story this would be. Can he sweep Daytona? McDowell, has four top 10 finishes in his last seven Daytona starts.

Chris Buescher (+4000)

Solid sleeper here with five top 10 finishes in his last eight Daytona tries including three of those being in the top five. This car won here in 2017.

Erik Jones (+5000)

He’s in a Petty car that was really good here with both Aric Almirola and Bubba Wallace. Jones, won this race in 2018.

Ryan Preece (+5000)

He was solid in his Duel in February, had second place finish in Stage 1 of the Daytona 500 and was sixth in the end.

Corey LaJoie (+6000)
