NASCAR Pre-Race Media: Top 5 race spoilers for Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400 (3 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN)

NASCAR is going back-to-back with the short tracks with a Virginia two step by doing so. They’ll go from Martinsville to Richmond in a span of eight days. Richmond though is a track that has been dominated by the big teams lately. But, this season has also had its fair share of fluke winners too. If we see a surprise winner on Sunday afternoon, it would be among these five.

Aric Almirola

What a disaster this season has been for him, but maybe he can steal a win Sunday in Richmond. Almirola, finished eighth last year and fifth in the Fall race in 2018. His best run this season was at a similar track to Richmond in Phoenix last month.

Austin Dillon

He surprised everyone last Fall with a fourth place run at Richmond, But, he’s also had three top six results in his last four tries there overall too.

William Byron

He’s not had a single top 10 in five career Richmond starts before, but he didn’t have a single top five in any of his Homestead starts either and there he was in victory lane. He’s had a top eight in six straight races on the season now. Worth a gamble on Byron this weekend.

Cole Custer

Another good on here. Custer was 14th as a rookie last year and actually won the spring Richmond race in the Xfinity Series in 2019. He was third in the fall race of that year too.

Tyler Reddick

His teammate runs well in Richmond and here Reddick was with an 11th place result on this very race track last September. Reddick, also had three straight top 10 finishes in his NXS career at Richmond as well.
