Prime Sports NASCAR – Fantasy recap from Phoenix, look ahead to Atlanta

CJ kept the streak going with a fifth straight win among our trio of experts last Sunday at Phoenix in scoring a weekly high of 185 points. One of his drivers won for the song straight week with Martin Truex Jr’s triumph over Joey Logano on the InstaCart 500.

Eric was second for the week, 15 points arrears with having Logano and Denny Hamlin finishing 2-3. Chase Elliott’s fifth place result gave him three cars in the top five as he now has five of the top seven drivers in the overall points scored category this season.

But, CJ still leads him by 140 points on the heels of a top 10 result in all but one race from Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick. Those two were sixth (Harvick) and seventh (Larson) respectively last Sunday. Throw in Christopher Bell (CJ) and William Byron (Eric) and these two took eight of the top nine finishers from Sunday.

Greg had the Penske duo of Brad Keselowski (4th) and Ryan Blaney (10th) as his only two drivers in the top 10 last Sunday and now trails CJ by 565 points heading to Atlanta.

Speaking of Atlanta, maybe it’s Greg’s chance. Keselowski and Harvick have traded wins the last few heats with this time it being Keselowski’s turn. He won in 2017, 2019…2021?

Blaney and Kyle Busch also both earned top fives last year in Atlanta, so Greg may have the team to beat this week.

CJ may too though. Harvick won last year and is the best in Atlanta. Larson is also great on aged surfaces too. Truex Jr has three top six finishes on the season and has been great lately in Atlanta as well.

This could be your top six on Sunday. Can Eric get Hamlin to continue his Atlanta ascension and maybe sneak a win out of Logano or Elliott?
