Can The Toyota bunch dominate Sunday’s Dixie Vodka 400 (3 p.m. ET, FOX, MRN)? They’ve won four of the last six Cup races at the Homestead-Miami Speedway including the last two. Kyle Busch (6 straight top 6’s), Martin Truex Jr. (3 top 2’s in the last 4) and Denny Hamlin (swept both stages and took the win a year ago) are the ones obvoiusly to beat.
The Toyota drivers have two of the best three odds on top of the list to go along with half of the top six.
What about Kevin Harvick (16 top 10’s in last 18 Homestead starts, 6 top 4’s last 7)? What about Joey Logano (5 top 6’s last 4)?
Those are great guys to start with. But, we also can have some sleepers too? I mean, we’ve had two straight first time Cup winners in as many weeks with Michael McDowell being 66-1 for the Daytona 500 and Christopher Bell 60-1 on last weeks road course.
Here are five sleepers to watch.
Ryan Blaney (+1600) – He finished third last year. Why not? He needs to get his season going and this could be just what the doctor ordered.
Tyler Reddick (+2000) – This is his race. He was fourth last year and should compete for a win on Sunday. He’s never finished worse than fourth at Homestead.
Christopher Bell (+2200) – Was eighth in last year’s race and has a JGR car now. This track could end up suiting him well. He’s coming off of a win too.
Austin Dillon (+3000) – He’s had a top 15 for six straight years including finishes of 14th to 12th to 11th to 11th again to 8th then to 7th….a top 5 on Sunday?
William Byron (+3300) – HMS had two cars in the top 10 last year with Byron being one of them.
Aric Almirola (+5000) – Was fifth a year ago as well and has two top 10’s in his last three Homestead starts.
Ross Chastain (+12500) – You mean you’re giving me a Ganassi driver for these odds? Chastain, is no slouch and taking over a car that produced three top five finishes in the last five starts for Kyle Larson? I’ll take it.
