CJ claims the top spot by virtue of a win on Sunday by Christopher Bell. CJ has been high on Bell since his rookie season a year ago and was able to claim him in a later round of our Fantasy draft a few weeks ago. Bell, rewarded CJ by passing Joey Logano while coming to the white flag and taking the victory in Sunday’s race – his first in 38 career starts.
Eric was looking like he’d extend his points lead with Chase Elliott dominating the race, but a questionable caution with 15 to go and Elliott pitting from the lead cost him a victory. Factor in Almirola, Byron, Wallace and Chastain not being much factors and the points lead was gone for Eric despite a runner-up finish from Logano and a third place run by Hamlin.
CJ had Bell, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick all up front in the end and nearly had another in Martin Truex Jr. too.
Greg’s rough patch continues with five of his seven drivers finishing outside of the top 10. Brad Keselowski (4th) and Alex Bowman (10th) were his only drivers in the top 10 at the checkered flag.
