The third annual Prime Sports NASCAR Fantasy Draft was completed on Friday night. Ahead of the 63rd annual Daytona 500 this weekend, Greg, CJ and Eric picked out their teams with the trio of analysists sticking to their guns on their picks.
Eric had Denny Hamlin winning the championship this year. With the first pick for the 2021 Draft, he put his money where his mouth is and picked the Joe Gibbs Racing driver to lead his camp. Hamlin, won seven times a year ago and has reached victory lane 13 times over the last two seasons. Only Kevin Harvick (13) has as many triumphs. Hamlin, has made the Championship 4 two straight years as well as won the Daytona 500 in two consecutive seasons as well. Can he pick up a major win for Eric right out of the gates?
Greg has been high on Ryan Blaney lately and used the Team Penske driver as his second pick. Blaney, is due for a breakout season as he’s not had a multi win campaign yet during the course of his young career. Most believe this is his year and Greg plucked him away early. He also grabbed Kyle Busch with his first pick as Busch enters the 2021 season with essentially a new team. His old crew chief, Adam Stevens, shifts over to Christopher Bell’s pit box and took the crew and hauler with him. Busch, gets Ben Beshore now. Will this tandem be a winning one?
His top sleeper this year is Erik Jones. He’s high on him with Richard Petty Motorsports as he’s said on this past weeks show. He grabbed him in the third grouping of the draft.
CJ is high on Kyle Larson this year and kept the theme going with his first pick of the draft (3rd overall). He also ended up with Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. as his team may have the best three driver tandem up top. Larson, joins Hendrick Motorsports this year and a darling pick to make it to at the very least the Round of 8. CJ believes that Larson will vie for the title though as he can jump out of the gates hot with a dirt race coming next month.
Harvick, had nine wins a year ago but failed to make the Championship 4. He’s not made the final round only two times since the playoff formats inception in 2014. I expect a bounce back out of him with CJ have a very realistic shot of putting three of his drivers in the Championship 4.
