A few weeks ago, Brett Moffitt announced that he would be racing full time for Our Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2021. He would be giving up his seat with GMS Racing to do so.
But, he shockingly revealed on Wednesday night that he’s not giving up a shot at a second championship in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series quite yet though.
Moffitt, will drive the No. 45 Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports in 2021 in addition the No. 02 Chevrolet for Our Motorsports full time in NXS as well. But, Moffitt will declare for points in Trucks making his championship eligible still.
The Iowa native won the championship in 2018 while driving for Hattori Racing Enterprises. He wasn’t retained during the offseason though.
So, Moffitt departed but was luckily picked up by GMS. He made the championship four the last two years, finishing third in each.
Now, he joins Niece looking for a fourth straight final round appearance as he will join Carson Hocevar and Ryan Truex with the team.
He has 12 wins, 39 top fives, 52 top 10, three poles and led 1,193 laps in just 82 Truck starts.
