NHRA unveils 2021 schedule, details here

INDIANAPOLIS — Last week, the NTT IndyCar Series and NASCAR Cup Series each released their 2021 plans. Now, NHRA has added their series to the mix.

The newly titled NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series announced their 2021 schedule on Wednesday. 22 events, all aired on Fox Sports, will take place during the 70th Anniversary season.

The year starts off out east though with the 52nd annual AMALIE Motor Oil Gatornationals (March 12-14). This event is typically run that weekend in March and remains put, but with the annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at Pomona being moved back to April (9-11), the season will just start in Florida instead of California.

The Gatornationals were actually just ran a couple of weeks ago as that race weekend was the first affected by the coronavirus this past March.

The second race of the season will now be in Atlanta for the NHRA Southern Nationals (March 26-28). Then, the series goes out west for a tripleheader of action from Pomona (April 9-11), to the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Vegas (April 16-18), then to the NHRA Arizona Nationals (April 23-25) in three straight weeks.

They’ll get a couple of weeks off before coming back east to Charlotte for another Four-Wide event for the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals (May 14-16). They’ll be in Houston on May 21-23 for the Mopar Express Lane NHRA Spring Nationals before taking another week off for Memorial Day weekend.

The US Nationals will be run on Sept. 1-5 as the last race of the regular season before the Coutndown is back a week later in Reading, Pa (Sept. 10-12).

The Countdown races are Reading (Sept. 10-12), Charlotte (Sept. 17-19), St. Louis (Sept. 24-26), Dallas (Oct. 7-10), Vegas (Oct. 29-31) and Pomona (Nov. 12-14).
