We entered the week with 30 car and driver combinations for this months 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 (2:30 p.m. ET, NBC, INDYCAR Radio Network). We will leave it with three new entries to get us to the magic number of 33.
Earlier this week, Byrd Racing teamed with Rick Ware Racing and the two joined forces with Dale Coyne Racing for a third car at the organization with James Davison as the driver of the No. 55 Honda.
Then, we will soon get a confirmation that JR Hildebrand will drive the No. 67 Chevrolet for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
On Saturday, DragonSpeed told RACER that they will be here as the 33rd entrant. Ben Hanley drove the car last year and is the favorite for this month.
Juncos was close but not enough funding was secured and it looks like we will be set at 33 drivers for 33 spots.
I don’t foresee any new entries after DRR’s announcement, so don’t expect bumping this year which under the circumstances, just be happy that we have 33 cars coming.
