Pagenaud Keeping Dixon In Check

Scoff Dixon is well on his way to winning his sixth NTT INDYCAR Series championship of his career. Dixon, is 2-for-2 in race wins this season and showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

But, the only reason to why he hasn’t run out to further lead in the standings (+29) is because 2016 Series champion Simon Pagenaud has started out hot as well.

Pagenaud, brought his No. 22 Chevrolet home runner-up to Dixon in the season opener last month at Texas. He was third after starting 20th in last Saturday’s GMR Grand Prix. Now, he’s hoping to keep Dixon in his sights in two races this weekend at Road America.

“I think the Menards Chevy team really showed their strength as a group at the Indianapolis road course this past weekend,” said Pagenaud. “On Saturday we came through the field and ended with a podium finish. It was a really strong championship level weekend.

“Road America is a doubleheader with lots of points on the table. This is one of the most beautiful tracks we get to race on in the series but it also is quite complex. We are going to give it 100%. “

Pagenaud, has never finished in the podium on the 4.014 mile Wisconsin race track. He was fourth in 2017, seventh in 2018 and ninth last year.

Dixon, won that race in 2017 and was third and fifth the last two years respectively.

That’s why Pagenaud just needs two solid days. He has 11 straight top 10 finishes, dating back to 2019. Furthermore, he has 27 in his last 29 starts overall.

A podium will go a long way on Saturday and Sunday.
