Jones Earns 1st Career Truck Win In Sloppy Truck Series Race Sunday Morning In Pocono

The Truck Series had a rough go of it on Sunday morning at the Pocono Raceway. Nine cautions and two red flags totaling for 15-minutes and 32 seconds occurred in the first 54 Laps of the rain delayed Pocono Organics 150.

We couldn’t even get a lap started at the beginning as we saw a caution at the start, and on the next two ensuing restarts too.

At the end, we saw two cautions in the final 12 laps to set up a two lap shootout for the win.

Brandon Jones held off Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed in a thrilling finish though for his first career Truck Series win in 46 tries.

Jones, took over the lead on Lap 48 when his Kyle Busch Motorsports teammate Christian Eckes crashed while leading in Turn 2. Jones, had a battle in the end with Hill who passed Jones on the restart but was later passed back by Jones on the other side of the track.

Then, we saw a caution on Lap 54 to set up a wild ending.

Creed, who won the first two stages and led a race-high 31 of 60 laps in his No. 2 Chevrolet passed Jones on the restart and led the field to the white Flag. Jones, looked back outside and the two drag raced through the front stretch, Turn 1 and Turn 2. Jones’ Toyota power prevailed.

It was Jones’ first Truck start at Pocono and first series start of the season.

Hill, got by Creed for second to earn his second runner up in the last three races in his No. 16 Toyota and sixth top 10 of the season.

Creed, was third place while Todd Gilliland and Ben Rhodes rounded out the top five.

Gilliland, now has four top seven finishes in his last five starts of the season in his No. 38 Ford and three top sevens in as many tries at Pocono.

With Jones’ win, as we head to Kentucky in a couple of weeks, Grant Enfinger is the only Truck Series regular to have won this season.
