Larson Ties Clauson For Most Midget Week Wins With Victory In Lawrenceburg

Kyle Larson had his best starting spot of any of the five Indiana Midget Week races. That’s why it’s not all that surprising to see him celebrating in victory lane again. After all, he’s won from sixth, 14th and 15th respectively already this week.

Larson, made a late race pass en route to his fourth win in the last five days and 11th time in his last 12 tries overall.

It was also his ninth career Midget week win, tying him win Bryan Clauson for most all-time.

His five Midget week finishes are also first, first, first, second and first respectively as he’s well on his way on the Midget Week Championship.

That streak dates back to the 2019 season in California, his homestate by the way, when he won at Placerville, Bakersfiled and Ventura. He then swept both nights of racing at the Gateway Dirt Nationals to close out the year in December.

In January, he scored a prelim night win in Tulsa then the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals later.

This week, he won Tuesday night’s race at Paragon with a text book pass of race leader Tanner Thorson with four laps left to score his eighth straight USAC National Midget Series victory when he’s been on US soil. Wednesday night, he passed defending Midget Series champion Tyler Courtney on Lap 18 and never looked back en route to his ninth straight win.

On Thursday night, he once again passed Thorson for the top spot again, this time on Lap 22 and won for the 10th straight time.

That streak ended on Friday night in Putnamville when Chris Windom took the victory.

Overall, he’s won nine races over the last 14 days if you count World of Outlaws and All Star into the mix too.

Tucker Boat has won all five races in Midget week now too.

Buddy Kofoid finished runner-up for his fourth top five result in 2020 and ninth top 10 overall. Thomas Meseraull was third in earning his first top five of the year while Windom and Courtney rounded out the top five.

We have one more Midget week race left. That’s Sunday in Kokomo.
