INDIANAPOLIS — 70 drivers will show up tonight in hopes of becoming the latest winner of the Driven 2 Save Lives BC39 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway dirt track tucked inside of Turn 3 of the famed grounds. Just 1 of which has won here before. The rest would be first-time winners.
- RMS Racing’s Sweep – They’ve led 40 of the 60 feature laps and took home both wins in the two preliminary night races. Thomas Meseraull led all 30 laps on Thursday night while Justin Grant led the final 10 on Friday. Grant was perfect though in going from quickest in hot laps to winning his heat race to winning his qualifier to winning the A-Main. Can he or TMez win on Saturday?
- Seavey’s Streak – This is Seavey’s world and we’re all just living in it. The Sutter, California driver has 14 consecutive top 5 finishes on the season including 6 wins and three runner-ups in that span. He won the Chili Bowl in January. He won all 3 races in the USAC 4-Crown event at Eldora. He did so on the same night in reaching victory lane in a Midget, then Sprint Car, then Silver Crown ride. Between those two feats, he won June’s Indiana Midget Week title as well as posting two USAC feature wins on the same day at two different tracks. Can he add a BC39 to the list? He’s made three A-Mains in this race with finishes of 13th (2018), 5th (2019) and 15th (2021).
- Points Behind Seavey – While Logan Seavey has opened up a 209-point lead over Bryant Wiedeman in the standings, the right for second is a tight one. 57 points separate Wiedeman in 2nd down to Jade Avedisian in 6th. Wiedeman has 1138 points accumulated. Justin Grant is third with 1116 (-22). Ryan Timms (1091, -47), Daison Pursley (1087, -51) and Avedisian (1081) are behind. How does this grouping look after Saturday night’s conclusion?
- 5th Winner In 5 Years? Indianapolis is a place that picks it’s winner. When looking at the list of winners no matter on the road course or oval or now dirt here, it’s the best of the best. For this race in particular, just look at who’s won thus far. Brady Bacon won the inaugural race in 2018. Zeb Wise won a year later (2019). Kyle Larson (2021) and Buddy Kofoid (2022) won the last two years. Who’s No. 5? Larson and Wise aren’t back to try to be the first two-time winner. Bacon and Kofoid are but Kofoid had to leave for other commitments instead of running tonight. Would you take Bacon or the field?
- Bacon and Grant’s Streak – Only 4 drivers have raced in all four A-Mains here. However, 2 of them aren’t around this weekend. The other 2 are. Brady Bacon and Justin Grant are hopeful to make the A-Main to say that they’re the only drivers to be 5-for-5 here.
- 1st Female Winner? There’s never been a female to win a national Midget race. Does that streak end tonight? 5 talented females are here tonight trying to win led by Jade Avedisian. She’s finished runner-up on 3 different occasions this season including 2 of the last 4. Don’t forget about her teammate Taylor Reimer or even Kaylee Bryson either. Reimer finished 2nd on Thursday night.
