INDIANAPOLIS — The Penske perfect weekend continued on Saturday afternoon in qualifying to set the lineup for Sunday’s TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks (1 p.m. ET, NBC). Hours after they went 1-2 in the morning practice, they’d go 1-2 in qualifying as well.
Matt Campbell went P1 early and never relinquished the spot in topping the 10-minute-long session with a lap of 1:13.672-seconds in his No. 7 Penske Porsche Motorsports Porsche 963. He beat his teammate by .152-seconds with Mathieu Jaminet going 1:13.824-seconds in his No. 6 Penske Porsche Motorsports Porsche 963.
That’s exactly how they went this morning. Can they do that on Sunday?
Meyer Shank Racing’s No. 60 Acura ARX-06 was third by Tom Blomqvist in going 1:13.864-seconds. Sebastien Bourdais (1:13.939-seconds) will start fourth in the No. 01 Cadillac Racing car while Ricky Taylor gave Acura two cars in the top five at 1:14.114-seconds in the No. 10 WTR Andretti Acura ARX-06.

He and Ben Hanley won Watkins Glen two races ago but with being P7 in Road America, they’re 3rd in points.
Second in points, Steven Thomas and Mikkel Jensen will start third (1:18.623-seconds) in their No. 11 TDS Racing entry.

LMP3
An upset occurred here with Gar Robinson and his teammate Felipe Fraga crashing and starting last. They’re undefeated in points paying races (4-0) with wins in Sebring, Watkins Glen, Mosport and Road America). To have that mistake could cost them dearly.

They’ll be joined by teammates Nolan Siegel and Ari Balough with the Indy NXT driver in Siegel qualifying their No. 30 entry at 1:20.982-seconds.

The Porsche was second quickest on Friday but fastest on Saturday morning. In fact, the top 5 cars in order on Saturday morning were the top 5cars in qualifying too.

GTD
Points leaders Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers will start on the pole in this class with setting the top time among all the GTD cars on Saturday at 1:23.075-seconds in their No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3. That’s a massive feat in the fact that they were only 36th quickest among the 48 cars here on both Friday afternoon as well as Saturday morning and then went to the top of the speed charts in qualifying.
This ride has been en fuego this season. Both Sellers and Snow have a record setting 5 trips to victory lane including two straight. With a 375-point lead in points, if they leave Indy 385 points up or more on the field, then they’d clinch the title a race early.
They’re in good shape at the start.
The Korthoff/Preston Motorsports No. 32 Mercedes AMG GT3 driven by Mikael Grenier was P2 at 1:23.290-seconds while Patrick Gallagher qualified he and Robby Foley’s No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 car in third at 1:23.657-seconds.
