Alexander Rossi is starting to find his footing again. After netting 7 top 10 finishes in the first 9 races of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, the new Arrow McLaren Racing driver found finishes of 16th, 10th, 15th, 19th over the next four races.
Now, he’s trending back up again.
Rossi was 5th in last month’s Gallagher Grand Prix. He turned that into a solid outing the last time out at the World Wide Technology Raceway with a P4 effort. He’s gained in each of the last three races going from 19th to 5th to 4th. Can he get back on the podium for the first time since May’s GMR Grand Prix?
“It was a good day for the team,” Rossi said of Gateway. “We have two top-five finishes in a row, which coming off a really difficult summer is good. We’ll aim to keep going the last two races.”
His four Portland finishes are 8th, 3rd, 8th, 2nd. On natural road courses this season, he’s came home 8th, 3rd, 10th, 10th and 5th.
“After securing consecutive top-five finishes, we’re definitely carrying some momentum into the penultimate race at Portland,” he says. “I have a lot of good memories from this track, so while we’ve had our ups and downs this season, I’m looking forward to continuing the trend that we’re on. It’s going to be a beautiful weekend from a weather standpoint, so I hope to see a big turnout from the always knowledgable northwest fans.”
