Team Penske is 7-for-9 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. They’re clearly the ones to beat and won the last natural road course race in Mid-Ohio and should have one the one before that in Road America too. Can anyone stop them on Saturday? Well, if so, look no further than this list of sleepers.
Alexander Rossi
He had a pair of podiums on this track last October, had a top five car for most of the race at Road America this past year to go along with a top five result in the next race at Mid-Ohio. These are natural road courses. Rossi, has the sixth most points scored on these types of circuits this season at that.
Graham Rahal
Worth a look. Rahal, has a top 10 in all but one start here including two runner-ups. He was fifth back in May too and has had a top seven result in all but three races this year. Rahal, has the seventh most points totaled on natural road courses this season, two points shy of Josef Newgarden for fifth.
Scott McLaughlin
He’s in a Penske car, qualified in the Fast Six and finished in the top 10 back in May.
Jack Harvey
He’s at his best here. He’s never started worse than seventh including a podium in 2019 and three top eights in five tries.
Romain Grosjean
He earned the pole back in May, led the most laps and finished on the podium. Also, Grosjean ranks third among all drivers in points scored on natrual road courses this season. Worth a look on Saturday.
