New IndyCar entrant for Indy 500, Rick Ware Racing partners with Byrd/Dale Coyne Racing

We have our 31st confirmed entrant for the 104th Running of the Indianapolis. Rick Ware Racing tweeted out a photo that they’re coming to Indy for this months race. In order for the NASCAR team to make it happen, they’ve partnered with Byrd Racing and Dale Coyne Racing to put James Davison in a third car at DCR.

Jacob Construction and Jonathan Byrd’s will allow Davison to drive the No. 51 Honda. They will also team up for Davison to race both of the NASCAR Cup Series races at the Daytona International Speedway with the Aug. 16 road course race and the Aug. 29 Coke Zero Sugar 400.

Davison, tried to race the Cup event at Talladega in June but NASCAR didn’t approve of him making his first career NASCAR start on a superspeedway. So, he made his debut a week later in the doubleheader weekend at Pocono with Spire. He then raced for Rick Ware Racing last Sunday afternoon in Loudon too. Now, Davison, will also race in both races at Michigan this weekend for RWR as well.

He will then come to Indy to practice next week and qualify on Saturday. He hopes to get into the top 30, because he has no plans of qualifying on Sunday since he will be racing in Daytona that day.

This will mark Davison’s sixth attempt at the Indianapolis 500. He has a career best finish of 12th which just occurred last year.
