Allgaier Hospitalized Following Last Lap Crash In Thursday Nights NXS Race In Kentucky

Justin Allgaier was transported to a local hospital on Thursday night following a last lap crash in the Shady Rays 200 at the Kentucky Speedway.

Allgaier, was collected in a violent crash when his No. 7 Chevrolet was pinched into the outside SAFER barrier in Turn 2. Ronnie Bassett Jr. was forced into heavy contact with the inside SAFER barrier on the backstretch which saw his car Kareem off the wall and get airborne. Luckily, he was able to walk away.

Allgaier, made contact on the backstretch still with Timmy Hill which then sent his car head on into the Turn 3 wall.

NASCAR said Hill and Bassett Jr were treated and released from the infield care center while Allgaier was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.

No word yet on his condition or injures suffered or whether he can drive in Friday nights race or not.

Last Sunday, Allgaier filled in for Jimmie Johnson on the Cup side while Johnson sat out due to testing positive for the coronavirus last Friday. He’s since had two negative results and will return to his No. 48 Chevrolet on Sunday.

Allgaier, was credited with a 20th place finish for his fourth result of 20th or worse now in his last six tries on the season. He luckily is eighth in the standings +162 still on the bubble.
