It’s a weird time on this planet right now. We’re in the midst of a global pandemic, so nothing now is the same as it was before.
That’s why it’s not all that surprising to how the 2020 INDYCAR season has started off.
The top three in the standings are the last three drivers to have won a championship. Scott Dixon won each of the two races run in 2020 and has two titles since 2015 (2015, 2018). Josef Newgarden was third in Texas and seventh in Indy. He too has won two championships (2017, 2019) in that time frame.

They’re distancing themselves from everyone else and with a lack of practice time and a ban on testing, it’s no surprise that the only drivers to have won a series title over the last six seasons are sitting 1-2-3 right now.
Now, it’s to Road America, which these guys have combined to win two of the last four years at. Dixon, has won by a combined 24+ seconds in the two races run this season. Newgarden, led 53 of 55 laps in this race in 2017.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see a combo of these three win both races this weekend up in Elkhart Lake.
