Team Penske has won three times in the nine year history at the Kentucky Speedway. They’ve also won five of the 16 races run this season too. They should be among the contenders to win Sunday’s Quaker State 400 based off those stats right?
Well, I’m thinking it may be a little more difficult though.
Joey Logano earned his first career NASCAR victory at the Kentucky Speedway back in 2008. In fact, he won that race for three straight years. Unfortunately, he hasn’t found victory lane yet on the NASCAR Cup Series side there. He’s 0-for-9.

Logano, has just two top five finishes in his nine Cup starts at Kentucky, but it’s not like he hasn’t been solid though either. He boasts three straight top 10 finishes there in his No. 22 Ford including six in his last seven tries overall.
On the season, he only has one top five finish in his last 12 starts too. So, finding his groove and landing a top five finish may be tougher than it seems on Sunday afternoon.
One thing going for him too is that Kentucky will run during this day where the track will be hotter and slicker. On another 1.5-mile similar track in the day at Las Vegas, Logano won.
Then you have Brad Keselowski. He’s won all three races for Penske at Kentucky but was only 20th last year and 39th in 2017. He three wins make up three of his four top five finishes in nine Kentucky tries. The Michigan native is a top 10 machine though, so he’s a top 10 caliber driver in a top 10 caliber car, but can he realistically win?
That leaves Ryan Blaney. He finished runner-up in this race in 2018 and has six top four finishes in his last 10 starts on the season. To me, Blaney has to be the favorite.
