Josef Newgarden

Newwgarden led 53 of the 55 laps run in 2018 and led 13 laps in a runner-up effort in 2017. He was eighth in 2016 and third a year ago.

Alexander Rossi

He never had much Road America success prior to last season. Then, he dominated in leading 54 of 55 laps and won by nearly 30 seconds.

Will Power

He has three top five finishes in four Road America tries. Only reason it’s not 4-for-4 is because Power’s engine failed him at the start of the 2018 race. He won in 2016 and was second last year.

Scott Dixon

He won this race in 2017. He’s won both races this season. He was also third and fifth in each of the last two years too.

Sleepers

Ryan Hunter-Reay

Hunter-Reay has called Road America his favorite track on earth. He does have two top four finishes in four tries at Road America including a runner up in 2018.

Felix Rosenqvist

Natural road courses are where Rosenqvist is at his most comfort. He was second in two of the final three races on them last year and fifth in the other. He finished sixth here last year.

Graham Rahal

Rahal, has a top eight finish in all four tries at Road America. He was on the podium last Saturday in Indy.

Takuma Sato

He finished fourth at Road America in 2018 and 10th last year.

Questionable

Simon Pagenaud

Pagenaud has three straight top 10 finishes at Road America but none of which were in the podium.

Marco Andretti

Andretti, has finished 12th, 18th, 11th and 23rd respectively at Road America.

Race Preview

There’s no rest for the weary. Following a month off, the NTT INDYCAR Series will race five times in a 15 day span. It started last Saturday in Indianapolis for the GMR Grand Prix and continues this weekend at Road America for a doubleheader.

Both races will be 55 Laps in length. Both should feature the usual suspects up front.

Penske, Ganassi and Andretti still will be the ones to beat. They’ve won all four Indy Car races in the return to Elkhart Lake. Plus, they’ll qualify the best and this race has seen a top five starter win all four times including three of which from the front row.

Also, we’ve had no cautions in each of the last two years and only one and two respectively in 2016 and 2017.

So, track position is going to be key in both days. But, the second race at Belle Isle has seen the winners come from third, ninth, third, 10th and sixth respectively too.

This race has seen pure domination. Will Power led 46 of 50 laps in 2016. Josef Newgarden led 53 of 55 laps in 2018 while Alexander Rossi led 54 of 55 laps last year.
