Unfortunately, NASCAR won’t be going back to Nashville this winter to celebrate Champion’s Week. Don’t worry folks, they’re not leaving Nashville for good, it’s just that there’s this pesky COVID-19 thing ruining the world and with the uncertainty of it, they decided to just scrap the festivities this year and try again in 2021.
“With the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus and the impact on the industry, this year’s NASCAR Champion’s Week and NASCAR Cup Series Awards originally scheduled to take place in Nashville will not occur,” NASCAR said in a statement. “The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series champions will be celebrated at the end of the season with more details to come. We look forward to returning to Nashville in 2021.”
The banquet was aired on NBCSN last year from Nashville as it was the first time they’ve been outside of Las Vegas over the last decade. Prior to that, they spent 2+ decades in New York City.
