Team Penske has won five straight GMR Grand Prix’s. They’ve been so dominant, the drivers were joking around last year calling it the “Penske Grand Prix.” But, I think that they may have some company battling for the win on Saturday.
Chip Ganassi Racing has never won this race before but they will be Penske’s chief rival this weekend.
In the season opener at Texas, they were heading towards a 1-2 finish before Felix Rosenqvist’s crash. Still, Scott Dixon dominated en route to the win.
Now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them running 1-2 again late in this race. They started 1-2 in this very race last year and have looked strong on natural road courses.
Dixon has three straight runner-up finishes in this race. Rosenqvist, finished sixth, second, second and fifth to close out the year on natural road courses last year and eighth in this race.
The second year Swedish driver says he has some unfinished business waiting for him on Saturday.
“I think there’s definitely some unfinished business from last year with having my first-ever pole in INDYCAR at the Indy GP, but I was not able to bring a great result to it,” Rosenqvist said. “So, that’s what we’re aiming for. We’re hungry and ready to go in the No. 10 NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.”
Both are confident and with the changes from the Aeroscreen, this may play into their favor on Saturday afternoon.
