New Hampshire To Host Fans In August, Why We Just Need To Get Through The Next Few Races

We had 1,000 fans able to attend a NASCAR race a couple of weeks ago at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. 5,000 more fans were invited in for this past weekend’s race at the Talladega Superspeedway. Now, another track has announced that they will allow fans back in and that’s the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The track announced that their Aug. 2 NASCAR Cup Series race can be held at a 35-percent seating capacity. This comes after the Texas Motor Speedway said that they will host fans in a limited capacity on July 19 and the All-Star race at the Bristol (Tenn) Motor Speedway on July 15 will play in front of 30k fans as well.

“Holding New England’s premier NASCAR race this summer here in New Hampshire has always been a priority,” said New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu. “The state worked closely with the folks at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the New Hampshire Division Public Health to put forward comprehensive operation guidance. While the stands will not be as full as they usually are, we are proud to be able to hold an in-person viewing experience for NASCAR fans.”

This is all a good sign of things to come for future races as Pocono, Indy and Kentucky will all race without fans over the next couple of weeks but past that, as three of the next four races know that fans will be there and in vastly larger capacities than we’ve seen since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Kansas (July 23) has said previously that they don’t intend to have fans but could change that as time gets closer.
