2 Stewart-Haas Racing Employees Test Positive For COVID-19

Stewart-Haas Racing issued a statement on Friday night that two employees of the NASCAR team have tested positive for COVID-19. The employees remain unnamed but SHR did say they work in the shop and not on the road crew.

“Stewart-Haas Racing has experienced two positive COVID-19 test results, neither of which involved personnel who travel to race events,” a statement read.

“Robust protocols have been in place and continue to be followed diligently to mitigate the spread of the virus while maintaining the health and safety of all members of the organization and greater community.”

Steve O’Donnell wouldn’t confirm, nor deny, if anyone tested positive in the NASCAR garage in their testing, but they’re also not testing for the virus at entry either. They’re just taking temperatures and screening for symptoms.

These are the first cases to become public within the industry.

The state of North Carolina, where most of the teams are based, is seeing an uptick in confirmed cases again.

Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett confirmed on Tuesday that he has the virus with minimal symptoms too.
