INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time since 2017, Conor Daly is a full time NTT IndyCar Series driver. Daly, had already announced this offseason that he will race in 13 of the 17 races in 2020 for Ed Carpenter Racing. The Indiana native will contest on all 12 road/street courses in the No. 20 Chevrolet in the shared seat with Ed Carpenter. Then, he will get a one-off in the third ECR entry for the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 too.

But, there has always been interest in the shared oval seat at Carlin too. Max Chilton knew that he’d be back with the No. 59 Chevrolet in all road/street course races as well as the ‘500. Virtually the same schedule as Daly. But, he wouldn’t run in the other four ovals at Texas, Iowa, Richmond and Gateway.

Last year, Daly filled in for Chilton in those races. Now, he will do so again.

Carlin announced on Tuesday that Daly will run the races that Chilton won’t. In turn, that makes him a full-time driver, racing for three different overall teams, for two organizations. The only thing constant between them is all are Chevrolet power.

In 2019, Daly ran two races for Andretti Autosport – the Indy 500 and the season finale at Laguna Seca. He finished 10th and 22nd in them. He also subbed for Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports too at Portland. On top of that, he ran four races for Carlin which began at Texas. He thrived in that role. Daly, came home 11th (Texas), 13th (Iowa), 11th (Pocono) and sixth (Gateway). Those were some of the best runs for Carlin all season.
