LAS VEGAS, NV — The Nevada desert was a weird place on Saturday. Rain, the wind, then sleet, then hail fell on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as mother nature canceled both NASCAR Xfinity Series as well as NASCAR Cup Series qualifying.
But, we had just enough of a window to get 50 laps of Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300 in before several rounds of rain would fall again, enough to postpone the second race of the NXS season until Sunday.
The resumption of the 300-mile race will take place at approx. 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. locally, or one-hour immediately following Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 (3:30 p.m. ET/FOX/PRN).
The final 150 laps of the NXS race will air on FS2/PRN.
The first 50 laps were dominated by Chase Briscoe who’s led 27 of the 50 laps run. He’s currently P2 in his No. 98 Ford right now.
Joe Graf Jr. is scored as the leader in his No. 08 Chevrolet as he didn’t pit when the pit road opened at the end of Stage 1.
Briscoe, won the first stage while Ross Chastain, who started 25th, was second in his No. 10 Chevrolet. Austin Cindric, Brandon Jones, Justin Allgaier, Michael Annett, Harrison Burton, Noah Gragson, Justin Haley and Riley Herbst rounded out the top 10 in scoring stage points at Lap 45.
We only saw two cautions thus far with the other occurring when Daniel Hemric got into the Turn 4 SAFER Barrier on Lap 18.
