DAYTONA BEACH, Fla — Heading into Thursday night’s Bluegreen Vacations Duels at Daytona, we knew who 38 of the 40 starters would definitely be. We also knew that we’d have five drivers going for the final two spots and that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Alex Bowman would share the front row for Sunday’s 62nd Running of the Daytona 500 (2:30 p.m. ET/FOX/MRN).
But, how would the rest of the field fill out?
Daniel Suarez and JJ Yeley both eliminated themselves from making the race when they crashed in the lone respectively incidents in each Duel. Chad Finchum was too far down to contend in Duel 1, meaning Reed Sorenson and Timmy Hill advance as the final two open cars to the Great American Race.
Then, Joey Logano winning Duel 1 and William Byron being victorious in Duel 2, will share Row 2 as a result.
Overall, it was a Ford and Chevy night on Thursday, with Ford going 1-2-3-4 in Duel 1 and Chevy 1-2-3 in Duel 2.
