INDIANAPOLIS – On an unseasonably warm October day in Indianapolis, the NTT IndyCar Series held their first on track test session for the new Aeroscreen. Both Scott Dixon and Will Power turned laps in their respective race cars that were retrofitted for the new cockpit protection device which will be on all cars starting next season.
Wednesday’s test was the first time that the Aeroscreen was on these cars for on track testing. Previously, the only testing that took place was back in July at the Dallara Research Center, which is in the shadows of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Scott Dixon tested in the simulator that day.
Now, Red Bull Advanced Technologies was able to complete a couple of devices to test on the race cars.
Power and Dixon completed several single car runs this morning as they started a days long check list which will want to see how the visibility looks, the handling, the internal temperatures inside of the cockpit and other major items.
