LONG POND, PA – Unfortunately, mother nature reared her ugly head again on Saturday at the Pocono Raceway. Due to the opening of two originally scheduled NTT IndyCar Series practice sessions getting rained out, the series and track officials had to come up with a revised plan.
That plan involved foregoing qualifying which was initially set to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET and move to just one practice session that would last two hours in length instead of trying to fit a window in with two one-hour sessions.
Due to that, the lineup for Sunday’s ABC Supply 500 (2 p.m. ET/NBCSN/INDYCAR Radio Network) was set by entrant points. That means points leader Josef Newgarden will start first in his No. 2 Chevrolet while Alexander Rossi will roll off second in his No. 27 Honda.
Last year, Rossi led 180 of the 200 laps from the second starting position. He also finished second in both of the other superspeedway races that were run in 2019 too.
Scott Dixon and Simon Pagenaud will share Row 2 while Row 3 will consist of Will Power and Ryan Hunter-Reay.
Due to the points standings having a lot of teammates near each other, you will have Penske starting 1-3-5, Ganassi 4-9, RLL 7-8, ECR 12-15, DCR 11-13, Foyt 19-20, Carlin 21-22.
