LEXINGTON, OH – With some of the main favorites struggling a bit this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, we have some favorable sleepers showing up to be contenders for Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 (4 p.m. ET/NBC/INDYCAR Radio Network).
Here’s the top ones to watch.
Sebastien Bourdais (+1400)
The Frenchman has four top 10 finishes in his last five starts on the season. He also has a sixth place run at Mid-Ohio last year. This weekend, Bourdais was ninth, 10th and ninth respectively in practice. He starts fifth.
Ryan Hunter-Reay (+1400)
He may enter this weekend reeling, but Hunter-Reay has two consecutive top 10 finishes at Mid-Ohio and was sixth, fifth and eighth respectively in practice. He will roll off 10th.
Felix Rosenqvist (+1600)
He had a great test at Mid-Ohio in the past. Plus, his team (Chip Ganassi Racing) has won a record 10 times here. Also, Rosenqvist was eighth and fourth respectively in practice on Friday and has two top six finishes in his last three starts on the season. He starts sixth.
Colton Herta (+1800)
He was quickest in practice on Friday. He was quickest in practice on Saturday. The rookie has a win on a natural road course already this season. He also boasts two top 10 finishes in his last three starts on the season. At Mid-Ohio, he has three top two finishes in four Indy Lights starts too. He starts seventh.
Graham Rahal (+1800)
The RLL driver found speed overnight and was sixth in practice on Saturday morning. He has five straight top 10 finishes here including six straight on the season too. He will roll off 15th.
James Hinchcliffe (+2000)
The Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver has three straight top seven finishes heading into this weekend. He went from seventh to sixth to third respectively. In Iowa, he has four top 10 finishes in his last six tries. In practice this weekend, he was in the top six in all three sessions (5th, 6th, 4th respectively). He starts 11th.
Spencer Pigot (+4000)
This could be a good race for him. Pigot, was second, ninth and second respectively in practice. He finished seventh in this race in 2016. He enters this weekend coming off of a top five in Iowa as well. He starts 13th.
Jack Harvey (+12500)
He finished third in Indy. He was 11th eighth and 12th respectively in practice. This is his teams home track. All signs point to him being a contender. He will roll off ninth.
