Kevin Harvick earned his first victory of the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season last weekend at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He backed that up with a series leading fourth Busch Pole Award of the year though on Saturday at the Pocono Raceway.

Harvick, circled the Tricky Triangle with a  speed of 174.058 mph in his No. 4 Ford for his 29th career Cup Series pole tying Ricky Rudd for 26th all-time. He’s also just the third Ford driver (Ryan Blaney – 2018, Brad Keselowski -2016) to win the pole at Pocono since 2013.

It is also Harvick’s first career pole on the 2.5-mile track.

Harvick, was 13th in both practice sessions earlier, so to have the pace on short run speed in qualifying was a bit surprising.

Joining Harvick on the front row is Joey Logano. The current Cup Series points leader turned in a lap of 173.377 mph in his No. 22 Ford. Logano, has two top 10 finishes in his last three Pocono starts, but both were in the June race. He also has four finishes of 23rd or worse in his last six Pocono starts overall.

Another Stewart-Haas Racing driver in Aric Almirola (173.164 mph) will roll off third in his No. 10 Ford to give the blue ovals a clean sweep of the top three starting spots for Sunday’s Gander RV 400 (3 p.m. ET/NBCSN/MRN/SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

Erik Jones (173.110 mph) and Austin Dillon (172.659 mph) rounded out the top five.

Four of the top six starters haven’t won a race yet this season.
